What "The Kirktonhill Pups" got up to in 2011....


After a couple of months without any shows, Jill and Brora rounded off a successful year with Best of Breed at Livingston Open Show on 27th December under judge Mr A. Littlejohn.
The SCWT of GB Championship Show was held at Stoneleigh on Sunday 16th October. Brora was 1st in Special Yearling Bitch under breed specialist Iris Connaughton and then later in the day Jill took her into the Special Beginners Stakes, judged by Colin Powell, and was placed 3rd.
A busy weekend, saw Brora & Maisie heading off to LKA of Scotland Open Show on Saturday 3rd September. Judge Mr A. Vernall gave Brora 1st and Best of Breed and Maisie 2nd. Brora then stayed on for the stakes classes where she was placed 4th in both AV Open Stakes and AV Not Bred By Exhibitor - under judge Mr F. Whyte.
The following day it was our "local" show at Perth. Terriers here were judged by Mr T. Huxley. Brora & Maisie were both in AVNSC Terrier Graduate and were placed 2nd and 4th respectively. Tali was placed 2nd in AV Open Bitch Stakes and 2nd AV Bred By Exhibitor under judge Mrs Stella Blackmore.
Two weeks later, on 16th September, at Darlington Championship Show Brora was 2nd and Maisie was 4th in Post Graduate Bitch under judge Molly Pastuska.
Then from Yorkshire we headed over to Cumbria for The Club Open Show North held at Wreay the following day.  Carol Barnes-Davies was  judging and gave Brora 1st place in Yearling Bitch, Graduate Bitch and Special Beginners Bitch with Maisie getting 3rd in the same 3 classes. Tali then rounded off a successful day with VHC in Open Bitch.
Our first show of the month was Falkirk & District on 7th August where, in S.C.W.T. Open Class, Tali was placed 1st and Best of Breed whilst daughter Maisie was 2nd. The judge was Mrs A. Herd.
Carnoustie was the venue for Tayside Lochee & District Canine Club's Open Show on 13th August where the Terrier judge was Ms Kim Lathaen. In S.C.W.T.Graduate class Maisie and  Brora were 1st and 2nd respectively with Tali winning the Open class and Best of Breed. Later in the Stakes classes, under judge Mrs Helen Davenport-Willis, Brora was VHC in Graduate Stakes and Tali was VHC in AV Exhibited & Handled By A Lady and then 4th in AV Bred By Exhibitor.
At SKC on 28th August, Mrs Sue McCourt was judging Wheatens and awarded Brora Reserve Best Bitch. Maisie got VHC in Post Grad and Tali was 4th in Open. And then a combined effort saw the team being rewarded with Best Breeder in Breed by judge Sue McCourt followed by Best Breeder in Group under judge Jack Watson.

Maisie had a great day at Bon Accord Open Show on July 3rd when she won the S.C.W.T. Open class and Best of Breed then was 2nd in AV Terrier Yearling and 2nd in AV Terrier Post Grad - all under judge Michael Bruggenburg Rothchild.
2 weeks later, on 17th July, at Fife K.A. Open Show, Maisie continued her winning way with judge Mrs D. McLeod awarding her 1st S.C.W.T. Open and Best of Breed.
We had a bit of light relief away from the showring, at Fun Day North on 31st July, where Maisie proved herself to be not only a pretty face but also a well behaved girl for her owner, Janette - by winning 1st prize  in the class for "The Most Obedient Wheaten"  She followed that with 3rd prize for "The Dog With The Waggiest Tail".   Meanwhile, Brora was 3rd in The Hoop Race and Tali's antics were rewarded with 2nd prize for "The Best Trick".
Maisie went to Livingston Open Show on June 4th where she was 2nd  in S.C.W.T.Open under judge David Guy and 2nd  in AV Terrier Open under Stuart Plane.
At Dundee Open Show, on June 11th, judge Lesley Roberts gave Maisie 4th in S.C.W.T. Open.
Then the following day at St Andrews, Cupar & District, Maisie was 1st S.C.W.T. Graduate under judge Mrs Fiona Cameron and was 3rd in AV Junior Stakes, 1st in AV Sporting and 4th AV not bred by exh. under judge Anne Macdonald.  Tali was 1st S.C.W.T.Open and Best of Breed. 
Tali, Brora & Maisie all met up at Kelso for Border Union Champ Show on 18th June. In the Junior Bitch class, Maisie & Brora were 3rd & 4th respectively with Maisie also getting 1st in Novice Bitch. Tali was 4th in Open Bitch. Then, all 3 joined forces to win the Kennel Club Breeders' Competition - Best Breeder in Breed under judge Angela Switzer and Best Breeder in Group under Maurice Marshall.
The month started off for Tali with a journey to Stafford for Birmingham National where she won the Open Bitch class and Reserve Bitch C.C. under judge Jane Withers (Pajanticks)  
The following week Maisie was at Falkirk Open show, where she was 2nd  AVNSC Terrier Open under judge Mr R. Cruden.
Then the 3 girls were all out together for SKC on May 20th. Brora and Maisie were placed 3rd & 4th respectively in Junior with Maisie then going on to be placed 1st in the Post Grad class. Tali was 3rd in Open. The judge was Eric Morrey (Tobamorrey) 
To finish the month off Tali made the long journey south to Bath, on May 27th, where judge Jeff Luscott gave her 4th in Open Bitch.
Maisie started off with Terrier Club of Scotland on the 3rd April - where she was 2nd in SCWT Open and 4th in AV Terrier Open, both under judge Mr Jim Smith.
Tayside Lochee held a Charity Limited Show on 13th April where judge Ms Smith gave  Maisie, handled by Janette, 3rd in the AV Terrier class.
Next, for both Maisie & Brora, came Perthshire Open Show on 17th April where Brora was 2nd & Maisie was 3rd in AVNSC Terrier Junior under Mr D. Todd and Brora was 2nd In AV Open Bitch Stakes under judge Mr A. Timberlake.
Then Tali & Brora had an outing to Ross & Cromarty Show
where Tali was 2nd in AV open Stakes and 4th AV Bred by Exhibitor and Brora was 4th AVNSC Terrier, 2nd AV Terrier Graduate, 3rd AV Not Bred by Exhibitor & 4th AV Junior - all under Mr G. Dowdy (Denzilly)
At East of Scotland Show on 6th March Brora was 3rd in AVNSC Terrier Open under judge Mrs B. Brown.
At Crufts, under judge Mrs P. Chapman, Brora was 3rd in
Junior Bitch and Tali was VHC in Open Bitch.

Kirktonhill Come What May ~ Maisie ~ owned by Graham & Janette Niven was 2nd in the SCWT Open Class at West Lothian Open Show under judge Mr T.D. Burgess, on 27th March, with Mum Tali being 1st and Best of Breed. Tali was also placed 2nd in AV Open Stakes and 3rd in AV Bred by Exhibitor, under the same judge.
Brora was Best NSC Terrier and then went on to be shortlisted in the Group under judge Mr A. Cuthbertson at Caledonian Open Show on February 5th.
At Tayside Lochee on February 19th, Brora was Best of Breed and Terrier Group 3 under judge Mrs K. Forbes ~ she was also 2nd in AV Junior Stakes under judge Miss R. Murray.
Kirktonhill Look No Further ~ Brora ~ owned by Paul & Jill McFerran ended her puppy career by winning Best Terrier Puppy at Kilmarnock Open Show on 3rd January, under judge Mr A. Wight.
2 weeks later at Bon Accord, at her first show out of Puppy, Brora was placed 1st AVNSC Terrier Graduate and 1st AV Terrier Yearling under judge Mr S. Payne.
